Abstract

1339658 Rotatable drying drums CLAAS MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH Gebr 8 Nov 1971 [14 Nov 1970] 51729/71 Heading F4G A rotatable drum 1 of a mobile dryer for drying material, e.g. chopped green fodder, comprises inclined blades (not shown) for conveying the material axially through the drum in the same direction as the flow of hot gaseous drying medium, and a succession of baffle plates 4 and 6-12 only at the charging end of the drum, angularly offset around the drum axis and spaced axially from each other, so that there is no direct axial passage through the drum 1 and hence the gaseous medium and the material being dried follow a path through the drum that is long in relation to the length of the drum. The baffle plates 4, 6, 7 and 8 are offset 90 degrees to each other, and the plates 9-12 occupy the spaces between the plates 4, 6, 7 and 8. The drum 1 may be of circular cross-section. The baffle plates may extend from wall to wall and have parallel edges or taper towards the centre, and be arranged at an angle to the drum axis, and be offset by an angle other than 90 degrees.
