Abstract
1339232 Electric timepieces SUWA SEIKOSHA K K 19 Jan 1972 [10 Feb 1971] 2580/72 Heading G3T In a timepiece having an oscillator such as a quartz crystal oscillator (not shown) for generating a time standard to inputs 7, 8, 9 Fig. 2 to operate liquid crystal display elements 1, 2, 3 via NAND gates 10, 11, 12 and amplifier drive circuit 4, 5, 6, a switch 10' is provided whereby the liquid crystal elements can be powered only when required, whereby both the life of the battery and of the elements is prolonged. The switch 10' may be manually operated or may be controlled from a photo-electric element 11 which cuts-off the display at night. The drive circuits 4, 5, 6 and the NAND gates 10, 11, 12 are described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown) in which low power consuming complementary-symmetry type metal oxide semi-conductors are used.
