Abstract
1339205 Photo-electric flaw detection NIPPON KOKAN K K 13 Nov 1971 52826/71 Heading G1A In an arrangement in which the surface of a body which is liable to be coated non-uniformly with oil is tested for flaws by means of its reflectance of a light beam, the wavelength range chosen is one that is highly transmissible in the oil. In the apparatus described a moving metal strip is transversely scanned by a rotating multifacetted mirror and a substantially uniform film of the oil is applied by sprays or rollers. The arrangement is designed to overcome difficulties due to patches of oil picked up by steel sheet during rolling.
