Abstract

1338897 Machine guns RHEINMETALL GmbH 27 July 1971 [11 Sept 1970] 35073/71 Heading F3C An automatic weapon has a slidable selflocking breech block 2 which inserts a cartridge 8 into a chamber 3 during its forward movement, the breech block then being locked to the casing of the weapon by three laterally pivotable locking bolts 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>1</SP>. The latter are mounted symmetrically relative to the longitudinal axis of the breech block, the bolt 6 being in the vertical longitudinal central plane. The breech block 2 comprises a head 4 having semi-cylindrical support faces 7 on which the bolts pivot, and a body 5 having inclined faces 9 which, after the head 4 has reached its forward position and a cartridge 8 is in the chamber 3, tilt the bolts so that they enter recesses 10 provided in a casing 1 of the weapon as shown in Fig. 1. The casing 1 has faces 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, which guide the breech block and is provided with openings 12, 12<SP>1</SP> through which cartridges are supplied via magazines 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. A cartridge case ejector claw v 15, Fig. 1, is provided and moves radially against the force of a spring 16 located in a groove in the breech head 4.
