Abstract
1338823 Lead alloy treatment ST JOE MINERALS CORP 19 Jan 1971 [20 Jan 1970 16 Sept 1970] 2474/71 Heading C7A A wrought lead alloy possessing tensile strength stability at room temperature is made by casting an alloy having a Ca content of 0.02- 0.1 per cent together with a Sn content of 0 or 0.3-3.0 per cent, and thereafter working the casting within a limited time period after casting. The time period depends on the ratio Sn: Ca in the alloy; it is preferably 8 hours, but may be 48 hours (5:1 to 10:1) or 7 days (10:1-150:1). The tensile strength, heat stability and creep resistance of the compounds inprove as the tin content increases. It is stated that the best results are achieved with an alloy comprising 0.06 - 0.09 % Ca 0.6 - 2.0 % Sn balance Pb Sn = Ca # 25:1
