Abstract

1338604 Photo-sensitive materials AGFAGEVAERT 19 April 1971 [9 April 1970] 16999/70 Heading G2C A photo-sensitive material comprises a selfsupporting or supported layer containing a pyrazolin-5-one having at least one H atom in the 4-position which may have a cyclohexane or saturated thiopyran ring fused at the 3 and 4 positions and a dye which on exposure to visible light destroys the reducing power of the pyrazolinone for Ag behenate. Preferred dyes are fluorescein and pararosaniline dyes are those disclosed in Specifications 903942 and 1002350. The material may be imagewise exposed to visible light and placed in contact with a receptor sheet containing a compound reactive on heating with the pyrazolinone. The assembly is heated and the pyrazolinone is transferred in the unexposed areas to produce a visible image on the receptor. Specified reactive compounds are silver soaps, silver salts specified in Specification 1111492 and diazonium compound and p-phenylene diamines under oxidizing conditions. The receptor sheet may also contain phthalazinone as toner and 2,4,6 - tri (t.butyl), phenol as auxiliary reductant. Alternatively, the reactive compound may be incorporated in the photosensitive material but in a different layer and preferably separated from the pyrazolinone layer by a vapour-permeable layer containing a pigment. The dye may be admixed with bi-imidazoles as disclosed in Specification 997396 and spectrally sensitized with fluorescent coumarin derivatives.
