Abstract

1337853 Lifting platforms POWER LIFTS Ltd 21 Jan 1972 [17 May 1971] 15206/71 Heading B8H Lifting apparatus comprises a load carrying platform 1, a wheeled support frame 7 having castors 11 at one end and swivelling or non- swivelling wheels 12 at the other end, an hydraulic ram (not shown) extending between the frame 7 and platform 1 for elevating the platform 1, a scissors linkage 2 comprising two sets of levers 5, 10 extending between the frame 7 and platform 1, the pivotal connections 9 between its levers 5, 10 and the platform 1 and frame 7 being movable, the connections 4, 6 being fixed, a post 13 depending from the platform 1 such that on lowering the platform 1 the post 13 is adapted to contact the ground 8 before the platform is finally lowered to its minimum elevation, whereby on lowering the platform 1 to its minimum elevation the scissors linkage 2 is effective to raise the wheels 12 off the ground under the weight of the platform 1, and the apparatus may then be swung about the post 13. In a second embodiment (not shown), the lower end of levers 10 directly carries the wheels 12, the frame 7 being shorter than that shown in Fig. 1 but being sufficiently long for the lower ends of the levers 5 to be attached to it.
