Abstract

1337810 Discharging hopper barges INDUSTRIEELE HANDELSCOMBINATIE HOLLAND NV 19 July 1971 [22 July 1970] 33806/71 Heading B8E In a hopper barge which has a plurality of discharge holes 4, Figs. 1, 2 sliding valves are provided for closing the holes which are movable in unison longitudinally of the barge between open and closed positions. The valves are pulled open and closed by rams 10, 11 and slide between resilient sealing strips 12, Fig. 4, with wear resistant surfaces 13. In a second embodiment, Fig. 6, members 18 attached to the valves are engaged by wedges 19, 20. When the valve is opened the wedge 20 moves the valve downwards and then horizontally and on closing the wedge 19 moves the valve horizontally until it abuts a stop 22 when the valve is raised.
