Abstract

1337413 Moulded polyurethanes GENERAL FOAM PRODUCTS Ltd 9 July 1971 [10 April 1970 2 July 1970] 17257/70 and 32248/70 Heading C3R [Also in Division B5] Moulded products comprising comminuted foam material of particle size not exceeding 2 mm. in a substantially non-cellular matrix of polyurethane resin, the products having a density of 10 to 60 lb/cu. ft., may be prepared by mixing the comminuted foam material and a polyurethane precursor composition, and moulding and curing the mixture under pressure sufficient to give a product of the said density. The comminuted foam material is suitably of polyurethane. Powdered cork filler may also be added to the mixture preferably in amounts of 5 to 25% by weight of the comminuted foam material. The polyurethane precursor composition may contain a compatible solvent. The products may be moulded in the form of facia panels, interior trim and safety padding in the car industry, insulation panels, as underflooring, insoles or heel filling in the shoe industry, sealing rings or washers, and as battens, load-bearing panels, pressure pads and buffers in packaging.
