Abstract

1337021 Covered button SCOVILL MFG CO 8 July 1971 [17 July 1970] 32231/71 Heading A3H A covered button 10 comprises a rigid shell 12, having a plurality of rigid teeth 18 spaced about its periphery, a fabric cover F on the shell having margins impaled on the teeth and a moulded plastics shank 14 extending into the shell. The teeth 18 extend inwardly through the fabric and across the shell 12 to define a mouth. The shank 14 is mushroom shaped with a head 20, larger than the mouth defined by the teeth, and a stem 28 is provided for securing the button. The head 20, which may be provided with radial slots 34, is locked within the shell which could be metal by the teeth, thus preventing the movement of the fabric off the teeth. Separation of the head from the shell is opposed by the teeth engaging an annular flange 24 on the shank head.
