Abstract

1336879 Resistance heating elements STICHTING REACTOR CENTRUM NEDERLAND 17 Dec 1970 [17 Dec 1969] 60063/70 Addition to 1136368 Heading H5H A heating element of the type described in Specification 1,136,368 has a metal outer layer 3 shrunk on an insulating layer 2 of boron nitride or beryllium oxide shrunk on the resistance conductor 1, which is solid or tubular, the metal layer 3 and conductor 1 both being of austenitic stainless steel, nickel, chromium, vanadium, rhenium, tungsten or alloys thereof with or without molybdenum. A thermo-electric element 5 is fixed in a groove 8 in the metal jacket or layer 3 with a silicon-containing solder 7, the element 5 having a protective tube 6 of stainless steel, nickel, chromium, tantalum or alloys thereof surrounding it. The unprotected covering of element 5 is of stainless steel or a nickel alloy. Element 5 gives the temperature of layer 3 in heat transmission experiments and in fissile lattice testing of nuclear reactors operating with liquid metals.
