1336612 Asymmetric metal complexes of azo dyes FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 6 May 1971 [6 May 1970] 13564/71 Heading C4P New metal complexes of azo dyes of formula wherein A represents the radical of a diazo component of the benzene or naphthalene series, B represents the radical of a coupling component of the naphthalene, pyrazolone or acetoacetaryl-amide series, C represents the radical of a diazo component of the benzene series, D represents the radical of a coupling component of the naphthalene, pyrazolone or acetoacetaryl-amide series, the -SO 2 Z group being linked to C or D, X and X<SP>1</SP> may be the same or different and each represents -O- or -COO-, Y and Y<SP>1</SP> may be the same or different and each represents -O- or -NH-, and Z represents a grouping of the formula -CH = CH 2 or -CH 2 -CH 2 -OSO 3 H, and alkali metal salts thereof are prepared by reacting the 1 : 1-Cr complex of the dye HX-A-N=N-B-YH with an appropriate mono-azo dye containing a -SO 2 CH=CH 2 , -SO 2 CH 2 CH 2 OSO 3 H or -SO 2 CH 2 CH 2 OH group to form the asymmetric complex and in the latter case, sulphating the hydroxy group. The vinylsulphonyl-substituted dyes may also be obtained by treating the 2-sulphatoethylsulphonylsubstituted dyes with alkali. The dyes are used to colour nitrogenous fibres by usual reactive dyeing processes in a wide variety of shades.
