Switches, quickaction. - In a rotary switch of the kind having an angularly movable spring-pressed contact-blade slidable on a polygonal part of the spindle by means of which it is movable between and on to cam-like projections having the contact segments located between them, the contact parts and the cam-like projections are located in a cavity beneath the switch base, being thus accessible only from beneath. The underside of the base has four projections c thereon, the contact-segments d being located diametrically opposite to each other and between the projections. The switch blade g is slidable on a polygonal part f<1> of the rotary spindle f, and is pressed upwardly by a spring f<2>. The contact-segments are of U- section, and are held in place by terminal screws e; the base is closed by a plate n, and the wires enter by means of a passage h in the base. Rotation of the spindle brings the blade alternately across the contact-segments and into the recesses j, thus alternately making and breaking the circuit. By the provision of an additional contact segment and an additional arm on the blade, two circuits may be controlled simultaneously. For high voltage currents, the contact blade comprises arms radiating from a tubular socket within which is housed the spring.
