Abstract

1335618 Stabilized trichlorofluoroethlene IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 2 Aug 1972 [20 Sept 1971] 43696/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] Trichlorofluoroethylene is stabilized against light-catalysed decomposition and hydrolysis by the addition of 0À001 to 0À5% by wt. of a monohydric, dihydric or trihydric phenol which may be alkyl or alkoxy substituted. Suitable phenols are p-tert amyl phenol, p-methoxy phenol, thymol and cresol. Additional stabilizers are (a) 0À05 to 2% of a hydrocarbon epoxide, e.g. propylene oxide, butylene oxide, amyl oxide or styrene oxide, and (b) 0À005- 0À2% of an aliphatic amine e.g. triethanolamine or ethanolamine.
