1335293 Travelling wave-shedding looms VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY 23 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 10929/71 Heading D1E A travelling wave-shedding loom has a plurality of shuttles 24, with pivoted bobbins mounted on a chain 21 circulating in an endless path, a loop of which is outside the shed, and a plurality of bobbin winding heads 30 on a second chain 10 arranged outside the shed in coincidence with the shuttle chain 21, so that the shuttle bobbins may be rewound during that portion of their travel when they are outside the shed. The chains 10, 21 are driven by sprockets 23, 12 on a motor driven shaft 13 which also drives a shaft 50, supporting a weft creel that is rotated in synchronism with the winding heads 30, and having a sprocket 46 which drives, at a faster rate than the chains, a winding head driving belt 47. The shaft 13 is mounted in upper and lower plates 3, 2 having guideways for the chains, the lower plate 2 also having a cam 34 that operates to raise and lower the winding heads 30 into the shuttles 24. A guide 36 is provided having a cam groove 37 operating clamps 39 on the winding heads 30. In use, as a shuttle emerges from under the warp sheet and enter the path of movement of the heads 30, a head is lowered by the cam 34 so that a clamp 39 holds the weft end and the driving belt 47 rotates a bobbin winder 35 so that weft is wound onto the bobbin. Winding proceeds as the shuttles progress around the coincident path of the chains and, as the shuttles enter the shed, the winding head is raised and scissors 54 operate to sever the weft trail extending between the shuttle 24 and winding head 30.
