Abstract
1334753 Water storage heaters GUSTAVSBERGS FABRIKER AB 19 April 1971 [4 March 1970] 22933/71 Heading F4A A heat exchanger e.g. a water storage heater comprises a casing 1 having a partition 3 with a large surface area compared with that of an element 2 for heat supply, the partition dividing the casing into large and small chambers 5, 4 there being intercommunicating means 6 therebetween to allow for take-up of expansion of the liquids of the chambers. As shown, the heating element 2 which may be an elongated heating coil containing hot water but is preferably an electric immersion heater protrudes into the small chamber, the liquid to be heated flowing into and out of the large chamber through ducts 8, 10. The intercommunicating means may take the form of a small passageway, pipe or a seal Fig. 3 (not shown) formed by overlapping flanges (17, 16) which restricts flow between the chambers. A vent 7 to atmosphere is provided for the small chamber and may include a manual or automatic control valve.
