Abstract

1334676 Making cutters; cutting tip MARWIN CUTTING TOOLS Ltd 19 April 1971 [14 March 1970] 12417/70 Headings B3K and B3A A tungsten carbide or ceramic cutting tip, Fig. 3, has chip-breaking teeth along a cutting edge. The teeth may be cut in the tip when in its pre-sintered state, in its sintered state or they may be moulded therein when in the powder state. The tip is of helical form and is produced by hot deforming a suitably-shaped piece of hard-cutting material. A plurality of tips can be secured to an end milling cutter body by brazing, non-metallic adhesive, or by means of clamps, and can be placed thereon off-set longitudinally so that the paths of the teeth do not coincide, so as to improve the surface finish.
