Abstract
1334448 Cutting pelts F L OLDAY 7 Oct 1971 [29 April 1971] 46761/71 Heading B4B Apparatus for slicing fur pelts for fur garment manufacture comprises a pelt support surface 10, parallel cutting blades 24 projecting above the surface 10, and a carriage 42 movable parallel to the blades 24, having depending pins 68 for holding and moving the pelt with the carriage 42, at least some of the pins 68 being adjustable in position so that a desired portion of the pelt is not held by the pins 68 against the surface 10 and can ride over the blades 24 without being cut. The blades 24 are rotated on a common shaft 28 by an electric motor (36), Fig. 2 (not shown), and the carriage 42 is slidable on bars 44, 46, being pivotable into an inoperative position, Fig. 3, about one bar 44 to give access to an infeed table portion 32 of the surface 10 and to the pins 68. For cutting, a pelt half 132, previously formed by cutting the pelt into two portions, Fig. 9 (not shown), is located on the table portion 32 relative to lines 96 corresponding to the blades 24, a pin bank 66 adjustable transversely of the carriage 42 being positioned to correspond with the pelt half 132 by means of a scale (88), Fig. 1 (not shown). With the carriage 42 in operative position, the pin bank 66 and a fixed bank 64 engage the pelt half 132, and on advancing the carriage 42 over the blades 24, the pelt half 132 is cut at those portions which are urged against the blades 24 by the pins 68, Fig. 8. The pelt half 132 is delivered on to a discharge plate 118, finger tabs 114 pivoting cranks 107 to cause elastic bands 100 to disengage the pelt half 132 from the pins 68, depositing it on a discharge plate 118. After raising the carriage 42, a supporting board (122), Figs. 10-12 (not shown), is placed over the pelt half 132, whereupon the product may be removed by raising the plate 118 about a hinge (120).
