Abstract

1333418 Axial-flow fans SIEMENS A G 27 Nov 1970 [ 28 Nov 1969] 56585/70 Heading F1C A supporting structure 2, Fig.1, for a motordriven fan unit 1,9, comprises arms 5 radiating from a central ring. Each arm has a substantially axial portion 11, adjacent its end remote from the central ring. The portion 11 has a substantially semicircular cross-section as shown in Fig. 3, with its convex surface directed inwardly so as to avoid sharp edges in the region of the fan blade tips 12 and thereby reduce noise. Bent reinforcing portions 14 additionally act as guides for air travelling past the arm. The part of each arm between region 11 and the central ring is substantially U-shaped in cross-section with its opening directed towards the fan. There may be three arms angularly spaced by 70, 145 and 145 degrees around the central ring, and seven fan blades so that only one blade edge at a time passes an arm. The structure may be stamped from sheet material.
