Abstract
133,266. Boyd, F. E. April 30, 1919. Trays for drying fruit and vegetables are formed each with a series of pivoted supports of various lengths, so that they may be set one above another at various heights, and are provided with flared sides so that they may be nested when not in use. They may be provided also with foraminous covers. As shown, a tray is used having a series of U-shaped legs 6 of different heights frictionally pivoted on bars 5 at the ends below the body, the tray being supported at the desired height by any one pair of legs, which are prevented from collapsing by bars 7. The foraminous cover 8 has its edges secured to bars extending over the sides of the tray, and may be used when the material is to be dried in the sun. When artificial heat is used, the trays are disposed in tiers, trays of fresh material being placed at the bottom of the tier as that in the upper tray becomes dried and is removed.
