Abstract
1331677 Cathode ray tubes WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 18 Aug 1971 [18 June 1971] 38727/71 Heading H1D A cathode ray tube using a shadow mask 22 for colour selection is provided with a coating 40 of opaque material, such as Aquaday (Registered Trade Mark), extending from the periphery of the picture area back along the skirt 34 of the face plate 32. The coating may be applied by applying a layer of PVA to the screen, exposing through the shadow mask and treating the layer to remove all except the picture area, covering with the opaque material then removing the PVA with the overlying opaque material to leave the desired peripheral coating. The phosphor layer 24 and an aluminium layer 28 are then applied in the conventional way.
