Abstract

1331288 Door and window frame constructions WILH FRANK GmbH 21 Oct 1970 [24 Oct 1969] 49989/70 Heading E1J A wooden frame assembly for a window or door comprises a wooden fixed frame 1 and a wooden leaf frame 2 each with rabbets 15 in the confronting faces of the frames, wherein each rabbet is provided with a groove 12 and 16 extending from corner to corner of the frame, the side walls of each groove lying parallel to the plane of the door or window and at least one groove housing a latching member. As shown the width and depth of the groove are sufficient to accommodate respectively the latching plate 8 which projects from the groove on the fixed frame and the latch operating bars 7, with a catch pin 17 on the hinged leaf frame 2. The arrangement of grooves is stated to have a draught excluding function, Fig. 3 (not shown) depicting the two co-operating grooves as providing a zone of turbulence. The frame rabbets may have two parallel grooves of different depths arranged so that the different depth grooves are opposed in the closed position of the two frames (Fig. 5 not shown).
