Abstract

1331042 Shaped foodstuff UNILEVER Ltd 25 Sept 1970 [26 June 1969] 32300/69 Heading A2B [Also in Division B5] Crinkled food products are prepared by extruding a doughy material and passing the preformed material past a plurality of rotating corrugated rollers to impress a corrugated outline, on the sides of the extruded material after which the material is set. Simulated chips may be prepared by passing an extruded ribbon of material, of rectangular cross section, between two pairs of rollers arranged at right angles to one another. Further, simulated scallops may be prepared by extruding material through a nozzle of oval or circular crosssection, cutting the extrudate into thin slices and feeding the slices through a single pair of rollers. A suitable apparatus for the process of the invention is shown in the Fig. wherein extruded material 2 is passed between two pairs of contra-rotating rollers 3 and 4, each roller having a corrugated profile 5.
