Abstract
1330838 R.F. couplings MARCONI CO Ltd 6 Nov 1970 [19 Dec 1969] 62153/69 Heading H4A [Also in Division M1] Each one of a plurality of transmitters or receivers is connected through a bandpass filter and a transmission line to a common point, from which a further transmission line is taken to a common load, such as an aerial. Each filter has a different pass band, and the line from it to the common point has a length which is equivalent to an odd number (including unity) of quarterwavelengths at the mid-band operating frequency of the associated transmitter or receiver. The line from the common point to the common load has a length which is equivalent to an odd number (including unity) of quarter-wavelengths at the mid-frequency of the overall operating frequency band of the system. The lines, which may be coaxial cables, each have a characteristic impedance Z 1 equal to kZ 0 , where k is between 0À35 and 0À60, and Z 0 is the impedance of the common load. A formula is given for determining a preferred value of k.
