Abstract

1330835 Microphones AIRMED Ltd 30 Sept 1970 [21 Nov 1969] 57188/69 Heading H4J The invention provides an adaptor for permitting an electromagnetic microphone to be readily usable with a headset and boom microphone of a type used by the U.S. airforce and defined in U.S. military reference M-3A/A. The boom normally carries a detachable carbon microphone which engages with contact terminals provided on the boom. The inventive casing has a portion 6 which engages the boom in a similar manner to that of the normal carbon microphone and a further portion 4 consisting of a two-part casing 8, 10 that defines two different diameter cavities for receiving respective different size electromagnetic microphone inserts. One of the cavities has recesses formed in its inner walls such as to define a rectangular space for receiving a rectangular shaped microphone insert. Annular spacers may be inserted in the cavities to widen the available choice of microphone inserts. The latter are protected by a gauge 26, a polythene sealing washer 28 and a rubber sealing washer 30. An amplifier 22 may be incorporated.
