Abstract
1330276 Permanent magnet synchronous motors DIEHL 27 March 1972 [5 April 1971] 14222/72 Heading H2A In a self starting synchronous motor comprising a permanent magnet rotor having poles of alternate polarity spaced uniformly around its periphery and a stator having two opposed parts each including narrow and wide poles, when a narrow pole 1 of one stator part is opposite a rotor north pole a narrow pole of the other part is opposite a rotor south pole and the wide poles 2 of both parts are between pairs of adjacent rotor poles. The motor therefore starts reliably even against a load since the electromagnetic and permanent magnet torques are at no position of the rotor simultaneously zero. As shown, narrow poles 1 and wide poles 2 of the stator parts are combined, but they may be separate, Fig. 7 (not shown). A given motor may comprise some combined and some separated narrow and wide poles.
