Abstract

1329476 Cabinets; furniture frames and joints R ALSTER 25 May 1971 [28 May 1970] 16797/71 Heading A4B and A4H A modular shelving structure comprises one or more modules 10, the or each module comprising top, bottom and side wall members 18, 12, 14, 16, each member having outwardly extending perpendicular side walls 40, 42 and end walls 44, 46, each side wall 40, 42 having two arrow-headed protrusions 52 separated by a strengthening and orientation nib 48 terminating in triangular abutments 50, the members 12-18 being secured together by corner clips 20-34 having arrowheaded grooves 64-70 that slideably receive the protrusions 52. The module also includes flush capping members 31 inserted in the recesses 29 defined by the walls 40-46 and retained by screws through aligned apertures 73, 75 in the module and members 31; members 31 and the module members 12-18 having apertures 77, 21 that receive plugs 25 of supports 23 for slideable shelves 27 or vertical dividers; the rear and front openings 35 being closed by a flush rear panel 37 and flush hinged front door 55, panel 37 and door 55 having plugs 53 fitting in module apertures 19; and each corner of the module is "finished" by a pair of perpendicular cap members 59, each member 59 having triangular end protrusions 52' that fit in the clip grooves 64-70 not occupied by a protrusion 52 and a traperoidal section central part, the outer face being perpendicular to and flush with the outer edge of the associated side wall 40 or 42 and the parallel inner face abutting the associated rib 48. To secure the module to a wall mountable fastener (101), Figs.5-7 or (109), Figs.8-10 (not shown), a bolt (98) is passed through apertures 96 in the clips 20-34 and an aligned aperture defined by the perpendicular edges 99 of the ribs 48, the fastener being wallmounted by legs (103) or screws (115). The module can be extended sideways and vertically by the clips 20-34 see Fig.12 (not shown) and in depth by clips of double axial length, bolts (98) then being used. The parts comprise plastics, metal or wood.
