Abstract

1329173 Electrophotography VARIAN ASSOCIATES 19 April 1971 [2 Feb 1970] 20221/71 Heading G2H A charge image is produced on a paper web 23 while clamped between a photo-conductive plate 15 and a porous resilient conductive layer 50 having a backing member 52 by projecting a light image on to plate 15 and applying an electric field across the web for a desired time by means of power supply 46 and timer switch 45. Layer 50 may be of vinyl or urethane foam impregnated with carbon or silver and may have a perforated backing member Fig. 2, (not shown)
