Abstract

1328898 Valves CHR NIELSENS EFTF AS 15 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 48124/71 Heading F2V A pressure relief valve comprises a housing 1 having a passage therethrough, a valve member 2 arranged for limited axial movement towards and away from a valve seat 3 by being mounted on a valve guide 5 and guide pin 10, a permanent magnet 6 to bias the valve member towards the valve seat, and an internal fluid guide 4 which, together with the valve member, is shaped to reduce the cross-section area of the fluid flow downstream from the valve seat such that an extra force is produced, when the valve is open, to oppose the return of the valve to the valve seat. The magnetic force may be aided by the weight of the valve member (if in a vertical position) or by a spring. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the valve seating is provided with an annular inflatable rubber ring 8 which is in communication with the flow upstream via passage 9 which results in increased contact between the valve member and seating and hence an increased force is necessary to open the valve.
