Abstract

1328766 Record player M I GLASS [trading as MARVIN GLASS & ASSOCIATES] 26 May 1972 [4 Feb 1972] 24873/72 Heading G5R [Also in Divisions A6 and G1] A cigarette smoking apparatus having a housing 10 in the form of at least the face portion of a human head (see Division G1) includes a record player for producing coughing or other sounds. A turntable 64 carrying a record 66 has its rim grooved to receive a drive belt 70 from the shaft of a battery powered electric motor 32. A tone arm 72 carrying a stylus 76 has a boss 85 engaging the apex of a speaker cone 78 carried by a frame 80 secured to the housing 10. A spring 84 on the pivot pin 74 of the tone arm 72 urges the stylus 76 against the record 66, the boss 85 acting as a fulcrum for the tone arm. When the stylus reaches the inner end of the sound track 66a, the tone arm 72 rides up a cam portion 86 of a lever 88 pivoted at 90 to the turntable 64 to lift the stylus from the sound track. The side of the stylus 76 contacts the arm 88 and pivots the latter against a torsion spring 94 to the full-line position shown in Fig. 7, the stylus sliding radially outwards along the arm until it is released at the start of the sound track.
