Abstract

1328387 Detonation fuze DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 2 Dec 1970 [3 Dec 1969] 57359/70 Heading F3A A detonation fuze comprises a wrapped core 1 of a brisant explosive charge surrounding at least one hollow tube 5. The tube may have an internal cross-section which is circular or has the shape of an equilateral triangle. The tube is made of polyethylene, polypropylene or a ductile metal such as copper. If more than one tube is employed, they may be concentric. The core is wrapped with spun filaments of natural and/or synthetic plastics fibres or strips of wrapping material 2. A layer of thermoplastic plastics material or a ductile material provides a water-tight sheathing 3. The brisant explosive comprises Hexogen, nitropenta, or hexanitrooxanilide. In the three examples the fuze has a core load of 12 g./m., 40 g./m., and 15 g./m. with respective denotation velocities of 7600 m./s., 8300 m./s. and 6100 m./s. A process and apparatus for the manufacture of the fuze is disclosed in co-pending Specification 1,328,388.
