Abstract

1327791 Sweep arms BOYTHORPE CROPSTORES Ltd 28 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 23302/70 Heading B8E [Also in Division F2] A coupling for operably connecting for relative angular displacement, the rotary drive for a sweep auger, comprises input and output shafts 64, 68 connectible to the rotary drive output and the sweep auger respectively, and being connected in end to end relationship by a pair of abutting flanges 66, 67 on the shaft ends, and slackly joined by at least three equiangularly spaced bolts 70. The bolts are threaded into apertures 72 in the flange 67 and pass with clearance through the flange 66, a shroud 80 on the flange 67 preventing ingress of silo material between the flanges. Material sweeping cleats 78 are provided on the shaft adjacent the flanges. The sweep auger is driven around the base of a silo from a central gear-box driven by a shaft extending through the centre of a discharge auger below the silo floor. A radial shield is provided under which the sweep auger may be stored when not operational.
