Abstract

1327413 Pipe insulation FESECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970 1 July 1970] 4403/70 and 31920/70 Heading F2P A pipe cladding unit comprises an elongate sleeve unit 1, adapted to mate along at least one long edge with a further sleeve unit to form a partial or complete covering for a section of pipe, provided with castellations along said mating edge, each castellation having a bore 3 through its length. The material of the units comprises aluminosilicate fibres bonded with at least one of starch, colloidal silica or alumina sol. A wire 2 may be passed through the bores to secure the sleeve units together. In the embodiment described two sleeve units 1 each with two castellated edges, are provided which when interlocked form a continuous covering for a pipe. The castellations may be of rectangular, triangular or semicircular form and individual lengths of cladding may be joined longitudinally by a further wires or rods passing through the bores in the castellations. One or more half-hoop metal inserts may be provided within the sleeves, the ends of the half-hoops located in the castellations being provided with apertures aligning with bores 3.
