Abstract

1326614 Control systems for heating apparatus A M UMPELBY 22 Nov 1971 [21 Aug 1970] 40351/70 Heading H2H A system for controlling the supply of heat to a building or like enclosed space comprises a thermostat including a switch 2, 3 in a casing 1 exposed to weather conditions outside the space and provided with two auxiliary heaters 4, 7. When the outside temperature is below a predetermined level a temperature sensor (not shown) in the casing 1 closes the contacts 2, 3 to energize the auxiliary heater 4 via contacts of a relay 9 and to energize a coil 6. The coil is part of a relay which when energized enables heat to be supplied to the building from a storage radiator or floor warming installation. The heater 4 increases the temperature in the casing 1 until the contacts 2, 3 open. At a pre-set time, a time switch 11 closes to energize a coil 10 of the relay 9 thereby changing over the relay contacts so that the heater 4 is continuously energized whereas the heater 7 is energized only when the contacts 2, 3 are closed.
