1326338 Electrically conductive polymers LONZA Ltd 14 April 1972 17237/72 Heading C3R Electrically conductive polymers are obtained by polymerizing maleic anhydride dissolved in an anhydrous organic solvent by adding to the solution at -40‹ C. to 140‹ C. a trialkyl phosphine. The polymer has the formula where R is an alkyl radical and n is an integer. In examples maleic anhydride is polymerized by addition of triethyl phosphine and tributyl phosphine, the solvents being tetrahydrofuran, benzene and dimethyl sulphoxide. Uses.-As semi-conductors.
