Abstract

1326107 Signal lamps EISEMANN GmbH 25 Nov 1970 [26 Nov 1969] 55958/70 Heading F4R In a signal lamp of the type used on emergency vehicles and having a reflector adapted to be rotated continuously about a vertical axis by an electric motor to produce a rotating generally horizontal beam, the reflector is formed as a series of frusto-conical surfaces 11 which are coaxial with the beam axis O-O and the contiguous edges of which lie on an imaginary paraboloid, the width b and inclination α of the surfaces being chosen so that the angles of divergence of the beams of light reflected from the respective surfaces are substantially equal. The reflector is preferably injection moulded from plastics material and has a plane contact surface (24) by means of which it is secured to a plate (27) driven by the motor, the contact surface having two pairs of bores (25a, 25b) providing two alternative mounting positions for the reflector corresponding to the different degrees of dispersion necessary with blue and yellow light. The mouth of the reflector has an edge which, above the beam axis, is located in a plane normal to the axis and, below the axis, curves away from this plane in the direction of light emission. In a modified construction the reflector is formed as a series of substantially frusto-conical surfaces each of which comprises a plurality of individual plane surfaces.
