Abstract

1325764 Measuring fluid flow BECTON DICKINSON & CO 8 July 1970 [8 July 1969] 14777/73 Divided out of 1325763 Heading G1R An air velocity indicator 29, particularly for indicating the velocity of air entering a cabinet type work bench (see Division F4), comprises a transparent or translucent body 47 having a vertical frustoconical bore 75 containing a movable ball shaped float 84. An inlet tube 49, having one end closed at 86 and apertures 88 positioned to face and receive a flow of fluid from fluid flowing through a conduit 48, is connected to the lower end of the vertical bore 75. Fluid leaves the upper end of the bore through an outlet tube 50 which also extends into conduit 48, is closed at one end 87 and has outlet apertures 89 facing the downstream direction of fluid flow through the conduit 48. Conveniently a calibrated scale (not shown) is associated with the body 47 to provide visual reference to the position of the movable float 84.
