Abstract

1325505 Reclaiming pulp from waste papers WASTE PAPER RECLAMATION CORP 2 Aug 1971 36156/71 Heading D2W A composition for use in a waste paper recovery process comprises an alkali metal hydroxide, an alkali metal carbonate, an alkali metal or ammonium phosphate, and an alkali metal borate. The process comprises cooking the waste paper in an aqueous solution of the above composition to form a pulp, separating the pulp, washing with water, further pulping the washed pulp and bleaching it, and finally washing the bleached pulp with water. Cooking may be carried out at a temperature from 180‹F-212‹F. Further pulping may be carried out using a hydropulper, hollander, or jordan. Bleaching may be effected using sodium hypochlorite.
