Abstract

1325079 Arylsulphonyl-terpenes; vitamin A RHONE-POULENC SA 4 Aug 1971 [5 Aug 1970] 36643/71 Headings C2C and C2V The invention comprises a sulphone of the formula wherein R is an aryl radical and Q is H or a monovalent hydrocarbon radical. They may be obtained by reacting a halide of the formula wherein X represents Cl, Br or I, with a sulphone of the formula Vitamin A is obtained by desulphonating a sulphone of Formula I after saponifying compounds in which Q is a hydrocarbon radical, and reducing the carboxyl group in the resulting acid to hydroxymethyl group.
