Abstract

1324796 Transfers LETRASET Ltd 7 Dec 1971 [22 Oct 1970 4 Jan 1971 19 March 1971 23 March 1971] 50336/70 341/71 7318/71 and 7599/71 Heading B6C A transfer comprises a carrier sheet and indicia which either comprise a urethane polymer formed in situ from precursors or are supported by a film which comprises such a polymer. A layer of adhesive covers at least the indicia, and may overlap on to portions of the cover sheet not covered by indicia. The adhesive may be pressure-sensitive or heat- or solvent-activated. The indicia may be applied to the carrier by printing with an ink which contains a precursor for a urethane polymer, which is subsequently caused or allowed to become converted to the polymer. Prior to use, the adhesive of the transfer may be covered by a protective sheet. Two support films may be present, one over and one under the indicia, with which they transfer. A polymer film which forms the uppermost layer of the carrier sheet may be made to separate from the remainder of the carrier sheet and cover the indicia on a receiving surface. Lists of carrier sheet materials, ink compositions, adhesives and other component materials of the transfer are given.
