Abstract

1324248 Rotary positive-displacement pumps BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd [trading as EDWARDS HIGH VACUUM INTERNATIONAL] 15 Feb 1972 [23 Nov 1970] 55691/70 Heading F1F A vacuum pump or compressor comprises a stator 2 with an inlet 10 and an outlet 12 and a rotor 4 with vanes 16 of self-lubricating material biased by centrifugal force into contact with the stator. The pump may be oil-sealed. The vanes may be of lead oxide and/or bronze and P.T.F.E. e.g., up to 20 per cent. The P.T.F.E. may be in small pockets in a matrix of lead oxide. Alternatively the vane material may comprise a matrix of P.T.F.E. with a filler of either or both lead oxide and bronze, or a matrix of either or both lead oxide and bronze with a filler of P.T.F.E.
