Abstract

1322876 Selective printing CREED & CO Ltd 6 April 1972 15839/72 Heading B6F In a wire mosaic printer, selected wires 8 are displaced by piezo-electric benders or bimorphs 9. The bimorphs 9 may be mounted on levers 7 connected to respective wires 8, a locking plate 4 being provided which initially is disengaged from the levers 7 until the required wires are projected, the plate 4 then being lowered to lock the levers in place. Impression may be by a hammer (Fig. 3, not shown) behind the paper, or by a bail (6, Fig. 1, not shown) urging the wires against the paper. In a modification, selected wires (101, Fig. 4, not shown) are bent laterally into the path of a hammer (103) by bimorphs (105).
