1322517 Piezoelectric transformers SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 Sept 1970 [1 Oct 1969 14 Nov 1969 (2)] 46462/70 Heading H3U A plate-type piezoelectric transformer having input electrodes EIN, E<SP>1</SP>IN and an output electrode EOUT is driven by a source OSC in longitudinal vibration either in the fundamental mode (curve a, Fig. 2) or the second higher harmonic mode (curve b, Fig. 2). To obtain the highest step-up voltage ratios the ratio of the width W to the half length L of the piezoelectric plate is held between certain limits, viz, for the fundamental mode the ratio W/L is within the limits 0À2 to 1À2 and for the second higher harmonic mode the limits are 0À05 to 0À85.
