Abstract

1322052 3 - Amino - azacycloheptan - 2 - one AGRIPAT SA 1 July 1970 [2 July 1969] 31852/70 Heading C2C 3 - Amino - azacycloheptan - 2 - one (α- amino-#-caprolactam) is prepared by reducing 1 - formyl - 3 - nitro - azacycloheptan - 2 - one with hydrogen under pressure at 50-150‹ C. in the presence of ammonia and a solvent, e.g. water, or a C 1 -C 3 alcohol. Preferably a hydrogenation catalyst, e.g. Raney nickel, Baney cobalt, platinum or palladium is present.
