1321591 Radiopaque compositions NYEGAARD & CO AS 23 June 1970 [27 June 1969 9 Feb 1970] 32699/69 and 6130/70 Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] Radiological composition comprises iodinated amides of the formula XNR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP> (in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP>, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen atoms or alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or acyloxyalkyl groups, and X is a group of the general formula: where R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> may be H atoms, acylamido groups NR<SP>5</SP>Ac, where R<SP>5</SP> is H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, acyloxyalkyl or acyl, and Ac is an acyl group; acylamidomethyl -CH 2 NR<SP>5</SP>Ac or carbamoyl -CONR<SP>6</SP>R<SP>7</SP>, where R<SP>6</SP> and R<SP>7</SP> are H atoms, or alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or acyloxyalkyl groups; and in which one of the substituents R<SP>1</SP> to R<SP>4</SP> may be a difunctional group bis-substituted by two triiodobenzoyl nuclei; or X is a group ICH 2 SO 2 -; there being at least one N-hydroxyalkyl and at least two hydroxy groups in the molecule; any of the said hydroxyalkyl groups optionally being the carbohydrate portion of a hexosamine or pentosamine) together with a radiological carrier, are suitable for cerebrospinal visualisation and cardio-vascular visualisation.
