Abstract

1321120 Acrobatic toys TOMY KOGYO CO Ltd 30 Dec 1970 61787/70 Heading A6S The drive wheels 29 and arms 13 of a robot are simultaneously rotated by an electric motor inside its hollow body and the arms can be set in any relative angular relationship, e.g. by a spring loaded locking mechanism, Fig. 2 (not shown). The arms are of such a length as not to touch the ground 48 when the robot is vertical so that, if the arms are set with no relative angular displacement, then, on contacting an obstruction 49, the robot topples over and the rotation of the arms causes the robot to somersault and thus right itself. The arms 13 and wheels 29 are respectively driven by a gear train and drive belt from the motor. Freely rotatable rear wheels 40 have their axles in slots 37 so that the action of toppling urges the wheels into contact with brakes 39. The wheels 29, 40 may be on legs. Resilient projections 43 are provided.
