1320737 Clutch combinations ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG 20 Oct 1970 [18 Nov 1969] 49806/70 Heading F2C A transmission comprising a torque converter 5 followed by a change speed gear 9 has a lockup clutch 6 so controlled by a valve 2, set in positions A-D according to the speeds selected, that the lock-up clutch is actuated except in reverse and the two lowest forward speeds then giving direct drive through the gear 9. In order that the engine can be used for braking when the converter 5 is operative a one-way clutch 7 is provided between the engine shaft 5a or the part of the clutch 6 connected to the impeller P of the converter 5 and turbine shaft 5b.
