Abstract

1319809 Television; pulse generating; gating circuits MULLARD Ltd 15 Sept 1971 [21 Sept 1970 17 May 1971] 44791/70 Headings H3T and H4F A circuit for production of a gating pulse (e.g. for colour-burst gating or black-level clamping in television receivers) during line flyback periods comprises a capacitor charged through R4 while diode D1 is non-conductive and discharged through D1 and the input potentiometer R1- R3 when the positive-going flyback pulse applied at A falls sufficiently. When the C1 is charged up to the bias voltage on T1 emitter (retained after a previous line flyback by the long time-constant R5C2) T1 will conduct, and will remain conducting until D1 discharges C1. By suitable choice of the time-constants R4C1 and R5C2 the pulse at T1 collector can be made suitable for colour-burst gating. Figs. 3, 4 and 6 (not shown) illustrate transistor circuits providing in different ways the two time-constants determining the start and end points of gating pulse. The chrominance signal to be gated may be also coupled to the base of T1.
