Abstract
1318809 (1 - Phenylvinyl)phosphonic acid KNAPSACK AG 19 Nov 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 53870/71 Heading C2P (1-Phenylvinyl)phosphonic acid is prepared by heating a suspension of (α-hydroxy-α-methylbenzyl)phosphonic acid or (α-chloro-α-methylbenzyl)phosphonic acid in 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane to 110-140‹ C., cooling the reaction mixture, optionally with addition of toluene thereto, and isolating the resulting crystals. Said starting materials are prepared by reacting acetophenone with phosphorus trichloride and glacial acetic acid, and treating the resulting compound with H 2 O or HCl.
