1318767 Locking toroidal helices L A IVANOV 13 Oct 1970 48522/70 Heading B3E A machine for winding small size toroidal cores comprises a device 17, Fig. 4, for pulling a loop of the wire through the hole 18 in the core 5 and a device 13 for placing the pulled through end of the wire on part-cylindrical elements 3 of a guide 1 on which it is retained, by means 14, Fig. 1. The machine includes a core holder 4 mounted for rotating the core stepwise around its longitudinal axis, a pull-through device 6 operated by a drive 7, and an arm 8 carrying a roller 13 for placing the wire 9 on the elements 3 said arm being connected to a cam 11 on a shaft 10 rotated by the drive 7. Hold-down brushes 14 retain the wire against the elements 3. In operation, the wire from a reel 16 is brought under a hook 17 of the pull-through device 6 which pulls the wire through the hole 18 in the core and forms a loop (19), Fig. 2 (not shown). A shuttle 15 widens the loop and brings it to the roller 13 which, being moved by the arm 8 around the guide 1, takes up the loop and forms a turn 20 around the core. During the further movement of the roller the free end of the wire is pulled through the hole and is placed on the guide ribs and the loop straightened. Then the wire is thrown by a catcher 21 on the hook 17 for the next working stroke and the cycle is repeated. The core 5 is rotated through one step between turns.
